OE Generators- no longer a need to physically plug-in to the grid

Orbis Electric’s power solution utilizes innovative in-wheel motor technology to capture and store clean regenerative energy.

OE has developed and packaged an in-wheel generator for semi-trailers and box trucks that powers the electric refrigeration unit almost entirely from braking and deceleration events while driving. The process continually charges the battery to offer a plug-free operating modality during long or short hauls.

Sustainable Cooling Technology. Zero-Cost Choice for Fleets.

The OE eTRU (Electric Transportation Refridgeration Unit) eliminates as much as 3120 gallons of diesel fuel use per year per for semi-trailers for fleets averaging 60 gallons per week per trailer of diesel fuel use, saving ~$168,000 over the life of a trailer.

The OE eTRU solution will be offered as a “eTRU as a Service” (eTRUAAS), with the monthly price approximating the diesel fuel and diesel TRU maintenance spend each month (~$1390 per month)—making the eTRUAAS retrofit (or new trailer) solution a zero-cost choice for fleets.

How it works

When the truck slows or the brakes are applied, the in-wheel generator is driven by the wheels, generating electricity that is stored in the battery pack. The generator and battery pack system are sized to support unlimited run-time operation, and 10 hours of stationary run-time (without grid-power). The system supports plug-in charging for longer stationary periods.
